Belt III under Grand Master Mansor
Milton
Regis entered the sport of jiu-jitsu at the age of nine at the Kioto
Jiu Jitsu academy in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where he trained under 9th
degree Red Belt Grand Master Francisco Mansor. Step by step, he gathered
belts, degrees and titles, which he gained at the state, regional and
national level.
He is a multiple-time state champion of Rio
de Janeiro, and it was at these tournaments that he received recognition
for his technique from Grand Master Helio Gracie himself. With over
30 years of experience in the sport, the athlete and teacher has acquired
and developed technique, experience and discipline.
Working nine years in the Brazilian Army as
a Lieutenant, he served as an instructor for the Brazilian soldiers
and taught several courses in health, weapons training, etc.
In 1993, he graduated with a degree in Social
Communications from Helio Alonso University and has completed courses
in Advertising, Marketing, Business Administration and Events organization.
In 1997, he received the Brazilian National
Championship after winning all fights in the same afternoon. In 2001,
Milton moved to the U.S. where he started teaching at the Brazilian
Martial Arts Center, in Boston. Here he trained UFC fighter Shaun Wagner.
In September 2003, he moved to Long Island, NY to once again be close
to his teacher Grand Master Mansor.
Now he teaches in his own academy in Sayville,
NY and assists a Kioto team that has been fighting for an ideal since
1965. Milton has achieved various titles fighting and coaching in the
U.S:
-Silver Medal in the Pan American 2002, and Bronze in 2003 and 2004.
-In November of 2002, after submitting all of his opponents, Milton
won the North American Grappling Association Championship Belt in Bayonne,
N.J
-A silver medalist in the black-belt division at the US OPEN in 2005.
-Since 2004, he has served as Technical Director of the New York State
Brazilian
Jiu Jitsu Federation.
-On June 17, 2006 he will receive another great title, Master of the
Year from the Budo International Martial Arts Magazine Hall of Fame.
